Diagnosis ~ Healing

The Road to Diagnosis: When My Body Began to Fail Me

I didn’t wake up one day knowing I had lupus. It crept in, slowly, quietly—until it consumed me. At first, it was just exhaustion, the kind that sleep never seemed to fix. Then came the joint pain, stiffness so intense that simple movements felt impossible. My body ached in ways I couldn’t explain. My hair started falling out in clumps. My face swelled. My skin burned in the sun like it had turned against me.

And then, the worst days came—the ones where my husband had to carry me out of bed because my body refused to move. My legs felt like they no longer belonged to me. The pain was unbearable, but the fear was worse.

Doctor after doctor, test after test, and still… no answers. I started to wonder if I was imagining it. If it was all in my head. But deep down, I knew—something was wrong.

And then, I heard the words: "You have lupus."

I finally had a name for my pain, but I also had a choice—accept this as my forever or fight for my healing. I chose to fight for my healing!

Symptoms I Experienced Leading to My Diagnosis:

  • Extreme Fatigue
  • Joint Pain & Stiffness
  • Muscle Weakness and Spasms
  • Hair Loss
  • Facial Swelling & Puffiness
  • Butterfly Rash
  • Sun Sensitivity
  • Unexplained Rashes and Red Spots
  • Migraines & Headaches
  • Brain Fog
  • Inflammation Everywhere
  • Unexplained Fevers
  • Dry Mouth and Etes
  • Numbness in Fingers and Toes
  • Sharp Pains in my Chest and Abdomen
  • Ulcers in Mouth

How I Put My Symptoms Into Remission

Lupus is unpredictable, but I refused to let it take over my life. Instead of accepting pain as my new normal, I made healing my priority. Here’s what changed everything for me:

πŸ’œ Anti-Inflammatory Diet / Nutrition – I shifted to a plant-based diet, focusing on whole, nutrient-dense foods that reduced inflammation.

πŸ’œ Hydration & Gut Health – Drinking A LOT of water, adding healing smoothies to my routine every day, and focusing on gut-supporting foods made a huge difference in my energy levels and immune function.

πŸ’œ Stress Management – I started listening to my body, learning to slow down, and making space for rest, prayer, and meditation.

πŸ’œ Movement Without Overdoing It – Gentle movement, stretching, and strength-building exercises helped me stay active without triggering flares.

πŸ’œ Faith & Mindset – Healing wasn’t just physical—it was mental, emotional, and spiritual. I truly believe my faith played a huge role in my ability to recover and thrive.

You are not crazy. You are not imagining it. And you are not alone. Keep fighting for the answers you deserve. πŸ’œ✨
